Worldwide Research Trends for Chelates in Animal Science: A Bibliometric Analysis
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to look at research trends in the application of CTM in animal nutrition in order to identify current and emerging challenges, as well as to examine the intellectual structure of the subject. The intellectual structure of CTM was examined using keyword and reference analysis. The research community includes all research and review articles published in journals indexed in the Web of Science database during the years 1990–2022. The results showed that the terms zinc, co-occurring 3…

“…Moreover, the detailed bibliometric analyses conducted by Ghassemi Nejad et al. ( 45 ) showed that currently there are also other alternative forms of manganese, such as organic chelates. Similarly to nanoparticles, they are characterized by high bioavailability, but at the same time, they exhibit lower toxicity, because they are less susceptible to excessive accumulation, which reduces the risk of oxidative stress.…”

“…During eggshell formation, the egg is bathed in uterine fluid (UF), which is secreted by uterine cells and is rich in the organic and mineral precursors required for eggshell calcification ( Gautron et al, 1997 ; Jonchère et al, 2012 ). Previous research has shown that the matrix proteins present in the UF play crucial roles in stabilizing amorphous calcium carbonate, facilitating crystal nucleation, selecting calcite polymorphs, and modulating the development of crystal size and morphology ( Dominguez-Vera et al, 2000 ; Ghassemi Nejad et al, 2023 ; Hernández-Hernández et al, 2008 ). For example, ovovleidin-116 interacts directly with calcium carbonate crystals during biomineralization, regulating the formation of calcite crystals, preventing irregular growth, and enhancing structural integrity ( Gautron and Nys, 2007 ).…”

“…Global phosphorus demand is projected to rise by 40% by 2060 due to demographic and dietary changes, while pigs and poultry utilize only 5–10% of dietary phosphorus, with the remainder excreted 8 . Enhanced phosphorus management practices can yield significant economic savings and environmental benefits, underscoring the urgency for improved strategies 9 . This necessitates a comprehensive understanding of its dietary implications in poultry farming.…”

“…Mineral sources, genetic makeup, and overall health are among the factors that influence bioavailability in aging laying hens 19,20 . Chelated zinc and copper minerals boost bone strength in hens by improving collagen, enzyme activity, phosphorus use, and antioxidant protection against oxidative stress‐related bone loss 9 . Phosphorus bioavailability in serum is influenced by its chemical form, affecting its absorption and retention in the gastrointestinal tract 21 .…”
