Abstract: The biogenesis of mitochondria relies on the import of newly synthesized precursor proteins from the cytosol. Tom70 is a mitochondrial surface receptor which recognizes precursors and serves as an interface between mitochondrial protein import and the cytosolic proteostasis network.
