Population perspectives and demographic methods to strengthen CRVS systems: introduction

Abstract: Civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems and legal identity systems have become increasingly recognized as catalytic both for inclusive development and for monitoring population dynamics spanning the entire life course. Population scientists have a long history of contributing to the strengthening of CRVS and legal identity systems and of using vital registration data to understand population and development dynamics. This paper provides an overview of the Genus thematic series on CRVS systems. T… Show more

“…Finally, a large percentage of countries do not have a proper operational civil registration and vital statistic (CRVS) system, thus mortality and causes of deaths are based on analytical models using data from regions with adequate data. This reinforces the importance to build and invest in CRVS systems across the globe [78].…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Civil registration records births, deaths, marriages, divorces, and legal residency of citizens ( 35 ), all of which ensure citizen rights and access to education and health services, and effective legal protection ( 36 ). It is the best data source to monitor progress towards numerous SDG targets and indicators ( 37 ).…”

“…Putri et al [6] evaluate the effectiveness of the E-Lampid system as a public service innovation in the field of population administration in Surabaya City. The study analyzes the system's features and benefits, including online application and processing of population administration documents, realtime data management, and improved user access and transparency.…”
