Excitation spectra of quantum matter without quasiparticles I: Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev models

Maria Tikhanovskaya,
Haoyu Guo,
Subir Sachdev
et al.

Abstract: We study the low frequency spectra of complex Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) models at general densities. The analysis applies also to SU(M ) magnets with random exchange at large M . The spectral densities are computed by numerical analysis of the saddle point equations on the real frequency (ω) axis at zero temperature (T ). The asymptotic low ω behaviors are found to be in excellent agreement with the scaling dimensions of irrelevant operators which perturb the conformally invariant critical states. Of possible exp… Show more

“…We shall also analytically compute the subleading corrections to the low frequency behavior, along the lines of Refs. [1,12], and show that it is consistent with our numerical results.…”

“…This paper extends our recent analysis in Ref. [1] from insulating spin models to metallic states of a random t-J model. This yields a rare solvable model of a metallic system without quasiparticle excitations, and so it is worthwhile to explore its properties in detail.…”

“…15. The behavior of the fermionic charge as a function of chemical potential is similar to the SYK case [1]. We do not see special features in the bosonic charge Q b .…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…For p = 4, we get α0,2 = 9 4 , α0,3 = −65 4 , which is consistent with[61]. It is also interesting to consider the large p limit, where α0,2 ∼ 3p 3 8π 2 and α0,3 ∼ − 3p 4 8π 2 .…”
